Ashley M. Liuzza is a Partner and the Chief Operating Officer of Stag Liuzza, LLC. Her practice centers on litigating complex environmental pollution claims and toxic exposure claims. Ashley is a passionate advocate and represents impacted residents, landowners, and municipalities throughout the country. In her cases, big and small, Ashley makes sure that her clients have someone to stand up for them. She prides herself on being available to her clients and helping them get the justice they deserve.

In the national PFAS MDL, Ashley has worked closely with leadership to investigate scientific causation and defendant liability. She also assists municipal clients in gathering evidence for their PFAS lawsuits and settlement claim applications ensuring that no stone is left unturned and maximum recovery is obtained. She takes pride in knowing that communities throughout the country will have access to the funds necessary to ensure their water is healthy. Along with her firm, Ashley represents over 350 municipal entities across 40 states and thousands of individuals in PFAS litigation.

LEADERSHIP ROLES

Notably, Ashley has successfully resolved numerous mass tort cases involving environmental exposure and pollution. She represented hundreds of residents impacted by industrial air pollution following Hurricane Katrina in In re Bertucci Contracting Co., LLC as Owner of the M/V Sharon Gail, 2:12-cv-0664, United Stated District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Ms. Liuzza also represented hundreds of residents in Nolan, et al. v. Exxon Mobil Corp., et al. who suffered damages from air emissions from a refinery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
 
Ashley has successfully litigated numerous oil pollution cases for private landowners resulting in property remediation and restoration throughout Louisiana.

In her cases, big and small, Ashley makes sure that her clients have someone to stand up for them. She prides herself on being available to her clients and helping them get the justice they deserve.

Ashley was appointed co-lead class counsel in Wheeler, et al. v. Arkema, et al., on behalf of a class of over 28,000 members outside of Houston, Texas for their damages following fires at the Arkema facility during Hurricane Harvey. As part of the class settlement, a fund for site characterization and remediation in the community was set up. A special master is implementing the approved plan at this time. Additionally, a health study was funded with a portion of the settlement and is currently in place.
 
After obtaining class certification in Wagner, et al. v. Tammany Holding Company, et al. (an air pollution case) in Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, Ashley was appointed co-lead class counsel with Michael Stag and Matthew Rogenes. Ashley was appointed interim class counsel in Bryant v. Intercontinental Terminals Company, LLC in federal court in Houston, Texas.
 
Most recently, Ashley was appointed to the Science and Expert Committee for the Depo-Provera (Depot Medroxyprogesterone Acetate) Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 3140 by Judge M. Casey Rodgers of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
 
In addition to her caseload, she has published and presented on topics within environmental law and unfair trade practices. She has served as an Adjunct Professor of Advocacy for Environmental Law for Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.  She has served on the board of the Association for Women Attorneys in New Orleans for several years, including as President of the organization in 2016. Since 2018, Ashley has served as a member of the board for the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana. Ashley recently joined the Advisory Board for the Tulane Institute on Water Resources Law and Policy. Ashley volunteers annually with the LSBA’s Lawyers in Libraries program to provide free legal services in St. Bernard Parish. Her passion for the environment and protecting the most vulnerable drives her in both her professional and personal life.
